Cars in Germany's Town Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police mentioned they were contacted by a individual who found a automobile in Hanau smeared with reddish substance

Around fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Vehicles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a release.

Law enforcement report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.

The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.

Police then located multiple other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement say initial examinations suggest the liquid was likely blood from a person.

"There is still no clue as to where it came from; investigators are currently not informed of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.

Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for tips.

A high-ranking official said the vandalism left him stunned and needed to be solved promptly.

"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, mentioning the killing of nine people by a assailant aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
